Travel disruption is likely as high-sided vehicles could cause delays. There could also be transport delays on rail, air and ferry routes throughout Friday and into Saturday, the Met Office has cautioned. Britons are advised to be vigilant in the inclement conditions and plan their journeys wisely before travelling.
Commenting on the conditions, Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said: “Storm Erik will bring some very strong winds and heavy rain across parts of the UK over the next few days.
“Storm Erik will move in from the Atlantic.
“Some very strong winds and heavy rain expected particularly across northern and western parts of the UK.”
Met Office warnings for wind and heavy rain are in force until Saturday, Mr Dewhurst cautioned.
