SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has suggested Scotland could have a second referendum on leaving the UK. She argued Scotland is being dragged out of the EU against its will. Baron Forsyth is a former Secretary of State for Scotland.

He commented: “The problem I have with the SNP saying they want to remain in the European Union is the most effective slogan during the independence referendum was we should make the laws that apply in Scotland in Scotland.

“How that works if you’re going to be in the European Union where the laws are made in Brussels and you would have less say I don’t know.”

In response to Baron Forsyth comment Fiona Hyslop, SNP Culture Secretary, claims Scots voted to remain in the UK in 2014 partly because they wanted to stay in the EU.

She commented: “Michael remember in that referendum we were told if people voted no they would stay in the European Union.”
