Strictly Come Dancing saw fan-favourite BBC star Stacey Dooley destroy the rest of her competition to take the Glitterball trophy with her professional dance partner Kevin Clifton last year.

The eventful series also saw successful partnerships in Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice and Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev, leaving viewers lost when the show finally came to an end just before Christmas.

Now though, 2017 contestant Simon Rimmer, who is best known for presenting Channel 4 programme Sunday Brunch with his co-host Tim Lovejoy, has reflected on his time on the series with dancer Karen Clifton.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Simon gushed: “I loved it, it’s genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life.

“When I got asked to do it, I knew quite a few people who had done it in the past and they always said listen if you get the chance, do it, just jump at it.

“I can’t dance, which is obvious,” the star laughed. “But it kind of doesn’t matter, because from the minute you get into that Strictly bubble, you are completely and utterly obsessed.”

Praising the positive experience, the presenter then dropped the bombshell there are still things viewers might not know about the glittering reality competition, and one of them was what it’s actually like to watch the dances from the BBC studio audience.

“When Tim [Lovejoy] came to watch,” Simon went on. “He was saying you could actually feel the tension, when you walk into the studio on a Saturday night.

“And also when you’re sitting at the side of the wall, how much faster it is.

“Because obviously when you’re at home watching it on camera, you’ve got these great camera angles etc.
