Fans will remember star Christopher Harper, 41, who played Nathan Curtis in the ITV soap Coronation Street, who was sent to prison for grooming Bethany Platt (played by Lucy Fallon). Now the actor will be heading to Holby City hospital in a complete U-turn from his Corrie role. He will appear in Tuesday’s episode of the BBC media drama, playing Michael Cartwright who is the father of a teenage patient at the hospital. In his guest role, his child Holly (Emma Curtis) will be receiving treatment after her unknown condition becomes progressively worse.

It is said both her parents will have to put their differences aside before coming to a heartbreaking decision.

The actor's representative confirmed to Express.co.uk he will star in several episodes.

The new role is the complete opposite to the predator the actor played in Coronation Street, which eventually saw him put in prison for being part of a grooming ring.

At the start, his alter ego initially came across as a likeable character when he first appeared in Weatherfield and found Bethany passed out after overdosing on diet pills.

But viewers quickly started to dislike him after the ordeal he put her through.

Things certainly came to head as Nathan faced trial for his actions and fans were glad to see him found guilty of rape and conspiracy to rape.
