Temperatures this week are expected to rise but the Met Office has warned the risk of snow for this winter has not passed. Freezing conditions are forecast to return to parts of the UK towards the end of the month, according to the Met Office. Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said, despite the rise in temperatures next week, “we've certainly not had the last cold spell of winter”.

He told the Daily Star: “There are cold spells likely in the period from February 22 until March 10.

“We may see snow to low levels with nights below zero, although it's too early to say how low temperatures will go.

“Spring might officially start on March 1 but there's still potential cold ahead even in March.”

The latest weather models also forecast temperatures to nosedive towards the end of the month.
