The former Foreign Secretary told BBC Radio 4's Today Programme British diplomacy is "expanding" since the Brexit vote. Boris Johnson claimed more British embassies are being open across the globe as Britain prepares to go global outside the Brussels bloc. He said: “People are looking at us thinking ‘Wow, they made this extraordinary choice to go global, to choose a different future. What does it all mean?’
“And people are very, very positive about this country.
“And you know, the aid budget is one of those things but so is our defence spending, so is our diplomatic presence.
“And one of the interesting things about British diplomacy at the moment is that it is expanding again.
“Our flag is going up in embassies in Africa, in the Pacific.”
