Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing close to Castle Park in Colchester this morning. Emergency services were called at about 8.20am and remain at the scene. Police said that their investigation is currently at an “early stage” and urged anyone with information to come forward.

The victim has not yet been named.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: “We are investigating the death of a man in Colchester.
“We were called by the ambulance service shortly after 8.20am today, Monday 11 February, with reports a man had been found deceased in Ryegate Road.
“He had suffered stab wound to his back.
