The Doctor Who actress revealed that she was told Ben Whishaw should have played the Time Lord just moments after being announced at the Doctor.
Speaking in David Tennant's new podcast David Tennant Does A Podcast With…, Jodie revealed a fan of the show told her she wanted Ben as the next Doctor.
She explained: “I was baseball-capped-up. Thinking I'm some kind of celeb, sunglasses inside and all that s**t!
“I went up to a cafe, and I went to order. This girl looked at me, she was about 17, so I was like, ‘I think this is my demographic’.

Jodie continued: “I could see her really psyching herself up. And she just went, ‘Are you…?’ and I just went, ‘Yeah…’
“And I said, ‘Can I talk to you to one side because I'm trying to be a bit sneaky and a bit hide-y?’ And she went, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah’.
“So I went and ordered, and I came back and went, ‘Are you a Whovian?’ And she went, ‘Yeah… I really wanted Ben Whishaw’.”
Jodie went on to add: “So I went, ‘You still might get him, the possibilities are endless, you could get anyone you wanted!’. I laughed my head off.”
The actress went on to discuss the pressure of taking on the hugely coveted role.
She continued: “I didn't realise the responsibility until after the first episode came out.
