Livid travellers have hit out at Blue Air for its “shocking customer service” and “cheek” and claimed the airline is refusing to respond to requests for compensation and clarity. The low-cost airline has scrapped several of its flights from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport to Rome and Milan but has kept on plans to fly to Romania, where the company is based. The carrier’s official Twitter account put out a tweet wishing its customers a “Happy Valentine’s Day” and urged them to “celebrate love and grab a last-minute gift like a #BlueAir ticket to somewhere nice and sunny”.

But one disgruntled passenger named Jodi replied: “So @BlueAirWeb you can tweet about Valentine’s but not respond to myself about my flight in March that you’ve just cancelled.”
The backlash comes after the airport said last week that two airlines had withdrawn expansion plans for Liverpool due to “Brexit uncertainty”.
On Tuesday Blue Air tweeted an ad promoting its “wonderful destinations such as Rome”.
Rebecca Cooke said: “Haha I should have been flying with you to Rome in two weeks however you emailed today to advise that the flights were cancelled!
