Florence (played by Josephine Jobert) desperately tried to call for help after she was shot during pursuit of her fiancé Patrice Campbell (Leemore Marrett Jr) on Death in Paradise, following him to an abandoned unit. With Patrice acting particularly shady during last week’s episode of the BBC detective drama, many viewers believed it could have been him who Florence and her partner DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O'Hanlon) were trying to uncover as the killer of the Marie Marie festival queen. After getting through to Jack and her fellow colleagues, Florence was saved as they reached her just in time but the same couldn’t be said for her soon-to-be husband. Investigating the unit to see if the shooter was still on the premises, DI jack stumbled across Patrice’s dead body and viewers were shocked to discover the character had lost his life, putting him out of the frame as the sinister killer. Taking to Twitter following the opening moments of the show, one viewer posted: “Jesus Christ @Josie_official what a star to the episode! I did not see that coming! Not at all!! #DeathInParadise.” Another added: “What the .......!?!???? That opening for #DeathinParadise stunning, exceptionally high calibre acting!” A third remarked: “Who predicted that! #deathinparadise,” whilst a fourth simply stated: “NOOOOO PATRICE #DeathInParadise.” Adding to the shock, a fifth commented: “@Josie_official Patrice is dead! I didn't see that one coming!! #DeathInParadise.” Knowing Patrice was not the killer, a sixth opined: “I knew Patrice would be innocent @Josie_official I hope Florence will be ok @deathinparadise we have a great team #deathinparadise.” “That's my prediction out of the window within the first 2 minutes,” a seventh responded, believing Patrice was the killer.
