The Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, is known for his witty comments and sometimes outrageous remarks. A royal expert has now given a behind the scenes glimpse of his attitude on royal tours alongside the UK’s longest-serving monarch. It appears that Prince Charles’ father didn’t take too kindly to schedule delays during overseas excursions. Despite the fact the latecomer in question was the US President of the time, Ronald Reagan, Prince Philip took no prisoners.

Royal author Kitty Kelley describes an incident during the Queen and Prince Philip’s tour of America in 1983.

They had been invited to the States by the President and First Lady, and were busy touring California in a limousine.

As they arrived in San Francisco, they encountered a road delay.

Kitty, in her new book The Royals, told how the father-of-four supposedly “strained with impatience” when he was told of the wait.

She wrote of the explosive incident: “The Queen stared straight ahead. Seconds passed.
