Cheryl, who is now best known for dance moves such as suggestively licking her hand, has reportedly had her choreography changed for younger viewers.
BBC bosses are said to have told choreographers to “tone down” Cheryl Tweedy and Oti Mabuse’s dance on tonight’s show.
Producers have reportedly compared the moves to the film Coyote Ugly, saying it’s unsuitable for primetime TV.
The dance captains are due to perform themselves in tonight’s semi-final show.
The Greatest Dancer continues tonight on BBC One at 7.35pm
Plans were put in place for a routine similar to the film about barmaids at the Coyote Ugly bar who dance provocatively on stage for tips.
An insider on the show told The Mirror: “It was more like Dirty Dancing.
“Cheryl and Oti were wearing black outfits, but they whip them off to reveal scanty black leotards covered in 100,000 diamantes.
“The girls were throwing their legs around Matthew Morrison, who was gyrating his hips on stage.
“The producers worried it looked like they were recreating Coyote Ugly and they had to remind the choreographers it was a family show.”
The insider added: “They said it must be toned down before the live semi-final.”
