James Jordan has been taking on the competition in Dancing On Ice 2019 with style, so far. And while it seems like nothing he does can be stopped, fans of the show may not know about the ongoing struggles he has with arthritis. Speaking to press including Express.co.uk at the Sun Military Awards he revealed he has struggled with the ailment for years, and has also damaged his shoulder in the past. He explained: “I’ve got old injuries from dancing like my rotator cuff, and I have arthritis in both my hips. There’s a lot of things I’m limited to because of my hips.” He went on to say the problem is “hereditary,” saying his sister also has the issue. James continued: “My sister is 41, she’s one year older than me and she’s just had a hip operation. “So I’m putting it off. I don’t want to have it done yet, I just want to wait.” “It’s so painful, I can’t sleep and everything,” he added. While problems with his hips certainly sound like a big deal, it is plain to see he has not had any trouble taking the lead so far in the competition. James Jordan injury: Will Strictly star bow out of the show? (Image: ITV) James’s hip issues aren’t the only hurdles he has faced so far in the competition. Whilst practicing with his professional partner Alexandra Schauman earlier in the season James suffered a nasty fall. Following the drop, he wrote in his Best Magazine column: “I fell practising a jump the other day and landed on my hip. Given the arthritis there, it wasn’t ideal. It hurt - a lot.” On whether the fall would affect his future performances in the competition James added: “I’m getting daily physio and trying to man up. I will get there.” Last week’s edition of Dancing On Ice 2019 saw James take home 34 points - remaining at the top of the leaderboard. And although Wes is perhaps the biggest threat to James, he is not exempt from suffering falls throughout the show so far. Earlier in the season Wes was pictured falling backwards on the ice during rehearsal, causing him to spin around and land on his stomach. Despite this fall, he still managed to get an incredible score that week - but will he be able to keep it up and take James’s lead in the competition?
