Wes Nelson has claimed him being career-driven caused troubles in his relationship with Love Island 2018 contestant Megan Barton Hanson. The 20-year-old, who met the model on the ITV dating series, said his decision to take on opportunities like Dancing On Ice meant the couple had little “quality time” together. He blames working with skating partner Vanessa Bauer on the figure skating competition for their shock break-up last month. Also, the former design engineer revealed Megan, 24, has blocked him on social media since they decided to go their separate ways.
Appearing on This Morning on Thursday, Wes told host Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes, who was standing in for Holly Willoughby, it was “difficult” to plan things with the former exotic dancer while starring on the show.
However, he slammed claims the two split because of Megan’s “feud” with his professional skating partner, Vanessa, 22.
Admitting the ITV show caused a strain on their relationship, he spilled: “It was heavily involved, but not the way the media made out with Vanessa.
“It’s more so it's so time-consuming and being away from home all the time.
“It's difficult to plan things ahead, with my schedule and training, it changes day-by-day, week-by-week.”
He added: “Every couple wants to spend quality time together, have something to look forward to, whether that be training ten hours a day, then three hours in the evening will be quality time.
