Former #Strictly professional speaks out on HUGE change - 'Totally different'

Ian, 48, was one of the original Strictly Come Dancing professionals to compete on the BBC dance show for the first seven years, leaving the show as a professional in 2009.

The professional ballroom dancer remains a part of the show however, as he offers his expertise in the arena on spin-off show It Takes Two.

Alongside spin-off show host Zoe Ball, 43, Ian was also partnered up with stars such as athlete Denise Lewis, 46, as well as Loose Women panelist Penny Lancaster-Stewart, 47.

However, having not been a professional on the show for ten years now, Ian has spoken out about how the pace of the Strictly has changed, with dancers having to put in more hours.

Ian said: “The professionals have to dedicate a lot of their time to make sure their celebrity partners are perfect.

“It's a totally different show to when I was doing it - less than eight or ten hours a day is just simply not enough.

“You must put those hours in for your celebrities to be so good,” the former Strictly professional told Hello! magazine.

Having almost won the show on several occasions, Ian also admitted he wouldn’t go back as a professional dancer and it would have to be for something extra special for him to compete again.

However, Ian admitted he would like to sit as a judge if he were ever to make a comeback: “I would like... go back as a judge or do a special piece like 'Ian's Insights.'”
