Debbie McGee, 60, was partnered with the Italian hunk Giovanni Pernice, 28, on the BBC series Strictly Come Dancing, with the pair making it to the finals. During a recent BBC broadcast with Colin Evans, the discussion turned to tea making after the radio host revealed her co-star did not make the hot drink. The presenter then divulged details of the time she and Giovanni was gifted a flask during her time on the dancing show but admitted she still has Giovanni’s flask. She spilled: “When I was doing Strictly, I had to go and meet Giovanni and travel somewhere late on a Sunday night. They gave me a flask with ‘G’ for Giovanni for him and ‘D’ for me.
“It was full of hot chocolate and you know I’ve got to keep them. I didn’t let Giovanni keep his because I’m sure he’d never use it.”
The former magician’s assistant recently underwent surgery to remove two cancerous tumours in her left breast, last month.
Debbie, who was married to magician Paul Daniels until his death in 2016, revealed she hadn’t told her dance partner Giovanni about the cancer.
Speaking with The Sun, she said: “I haven’t told many other people apart from my family. We’re in touch quite a bit and he’s on the arena tour at the moment.”
The radio host revealed the pair do still keep in touch following their appearance on the BBC show.
