The EU’s most senior official also said that delaying Brexit could be an option if it avoided a “no deal” scenario. Mr Juncker suggested that higher forces would now dictate the way Brexit will play out. In an interview with German newspaper Stuttgart Zeitung he said: “When it comes to Brexit, it is like being before the courts or on the high seas; we are in God’s hands.
“And we can never quite be sure when God will take the matter in hand”
Britain will leave the EU and all of its institutions on March 29 unless it agrees to the Brexit deal secured by Theresa May.
Although, to avoid a “no deal” exit, the UK could ask for an extension to the article 50 process.
An extension could see a final decision on Brexit being delayed for a number of months.
