Rain set to drench the UK (Image: GETTY)
The rain cloud is approaching from the west and will bring wet weather to Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, northern England, north Wales and the Midlands. The heaviest area will be western Scotland, which could see two to three inches of rain. However, before then, today will start chilly and clear for many.
Meteorologist Steven Keates said: “That will leave a dry night for many with some clear spells and just cold enough for a touch of frost.
“We’ve got some showers to clear away for many parts of the country in the coming hours.
“Where the skies stay clear, it will turn quite chilly.”
Temperatures will be around 3-7C in towns and cities, but rural areas could see as low as 1 or 2C, so “just about cold enough for a touch of frost”.
