The heaviest area will be western Scotland, which could see two to three inches of rain. However, before then, today will start chilly and clear for many. Met Office warns of PERSISTENT rain and blustery showers Meteorologist Steven Keates said: “That will leave a dry night for many with some clear spells and just cold enough for a touch of frost. “We’ve got some showers to clear away for many parts of the country in the coming hours. “Where the skies stay clear, it will turn quite chilly.” Temperatures will be around 3-7C in towns and cities, but rural areas could see as low as 1 or 2C, so “just about cold enough for a touch of frost”. Mr Keates said: “Quite a wet afternoon for Northern Ireland, some of this wet weather fringing into western Scotland, maybe west Wales too. “Further to the east, after that sunny start, the cloud will be spilling across and turning that sunshine a bit hazy. “Through Tuesday evening, this rain will march its way further eastwards across much of Scotland, northern England getting some wet weather, north Wales and the Midlands seeing a bit of rain too. Eastern England however will hover at around 10 or 11C. As the rain starts to clear into the night, many areas will be left with clouds and mild southwesterly winds.
