White House HUMILIATED after Pence speech blunder - 'The silence was DEAFENING'

Despite stating leaders from European and Asian governments had cheered Mr Pence after he mentioned Trump, video footage revealed the exact opposite. Mr Pence was speaking at the Munich Security Conference when he passed on Mr Trump’s regards to the dignitaries gathered. According to Newsweek, the 59-year-old paused for several moments, waiting for a response, but the crowd remained silent.

The exchange was caught on camera and quickly went viral on Twitter and Facebook.

Writing on Twitter, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said: “The silence was deafening.”

The White House published a transcript of the speech which listed Mr Pence’s words before including “(Applause)”.

In the address, Mr Pence said: “I bring greetings from the 45th president of the United States of America, President Donald Trump.”
