BBC Breakfast host Dan was on the programme to talk about how he had met Tony by chance one day in Sheffield, where Tony told him an incredible story.
The One Show guests listened to Tony tell a tale from his youth which has had an effect on him throughout his life.
Tony recounted a story of how when he was eight years old, a bomber came over the park where he and his friends were.
While the pilot tried to warn the boys to move out of the way, they believed him to be waving and when the aircraft tried to make it over the trees, it crashed with those inside losing their lives.

But years later in 1969 since stones were laid there in honour of the men, Tony had been tending to the memorial site on his own.
Friday will see a special service take place for the men who died which will include a flypast which Dan had made happen after Tony expressed a wish for it.
But Dan had a surprise announcement for Tony which brought out tears in the studio.
Dan began: “So in the park on Friday, two of the pilots nephews are going to be there.
“There was another guy that was on the plane called Melchior Hernandez and he was the man on the plane who named the plane Mi Amigo and his grand-niece is going to be in the park on Friday, Tony.
