In some of these areas the winds will be accompanied by some rain. Southern areas should also expect strong winds, drawn towards Britain from the Canary Islands. The weather will be warm for the time of year, with temperatures reaching the mid-teens.
Met Office meteorologist Becky Mitchell explained: “We’ve got southerly winds being drawn up from the Canary Islands by areas of low pressure heading towards the country.
“As that low pressure heads in the north and west, we will see some rain and strong winds at times, but high pressure across the continent will keep it drier and brighter for most of us.”
Conditions will be heated for the time of year, feeling more like spring.
Scotland will start the day cloudy, though Aberdeenshire should be brighter, with rain and drizzle for much of the country.
