The Duke of Sussex carried out a “normal” gesture while in Devon. He made a uniformed appearance at the Royal Marine base. But upon arrival, he shut his own car door.

While this “everyday” act may not appear an issue, it is actually off-limits to the Royals.
The reason being is that it is a potential security breach for a Royal.
The measure is in place to ensure that security can get a Royal back into a car quickly.
To do this, security needs too know the door is unlocked and open.
