#BBCBreakfast viewers in tears over anniversary memorial for WW2 airmen as ...

Steph McGovern and Charlie Stayt hosted BBC Breakfast this morning live in Sheffield for a very special episode of the news programme, for an event that kicked off due to the efforts of their colleague Dan Walker and one dedicated man.

Dan met Tony Foulds while out walking his dog in January where Tony told the presenter a story which captured him immediately.

When Tony was eight years old in 1944, he and some friends were playing in Endcliffe Park in Sheffield when a US bomber plane named Mi Amigo came overhead before crashing whilst attempting to make it over some trees.

All ten men aboard the air craft lost their lives that day and memorial stones were subsequently laid there years later.
