The Walking Dead has seen many characters come and go, as is the nature of an apocalyptic world, but Carl Grimes’ (played by Chandler Riggs) death was up there with one of the most heart-wrenching.
But viewers may be surprised to learn that the actor wasn’t so keen on his own performance at times.
Chandler bowed out of the AMC show last season when Carl was killed off and the character shot himself in the head after receiving a bite from a zombie.
However, the performer has now revealed that he believed he “got lazy” with his acting.

The actor spilled on the reasons why he believed his performance “sucked” in a post to Reddit.
He made the lengthy response to a post from a fan who said Chandler “wasn’t a strong enough actor to play the role”.
The viewer pointed to the time-jump, stating that Carl could’ve shifted into the lead when Rick (Andrew Lincoln) disappeared.
Chandler wrote: “Been rewatching twd over the last couple of months and I agree lol. I think I was decent for the first few years, but I definitely got lazy when I should've utilized the writers giving me more material.”
He went on to explain how he had taken on a big workload at school, meaning he put “more effort” into education as opposed to acting.
Chandler continued: “However, for seasons 4-7 (and some of 8) I was putting the majority of my effort into school.
