#TheAffair season 5 spoilers: Final series to have time jump?

The Affair season five does not have a release date yet, but details are starting to emerge about the upcoming Showtime series. Showtime has revealed that the series, which stars Dominic West and, until the end of the last series, Ruth Wilson, will have a time jump to decades in the future. Anna Paquin will star as the grown-up daughter of Alison Bailey (Ruth Wilson) and Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson) in the time-jumped final season of The Affair.

According to TV Line, at least some of The Affair’s final series will be set “two or three decades” in the future.

These time jumped portions will feature a grown-up Joanie Lockhart, who was five years old when we last saw her in The Affair.

In these future sections, she will be played by Anna Paquin, best known for her roles in in X-Men, True Blood and The Piano, for which she won an Oscar aged just 12.

Paquin is 36, so if she is playing her real age then the time jump will be 30 years, placing the action in 2049.

The future storyline will see Joanie married to Paul (Lyriq Bent), a sports agent and also have a character for actress Jennifer Jason Leigh.
