The response, issued on November 27 2018, reads: “British citizenship can be removed if it does not render the individual stateless. It is therefore expected a debate will be held on the subject within days. On the petition's webpage, it says: “Waiting for seven days for a debate date.” Home Secretary Sajid Javid this week vowed to rescind the citizenship of ISIS bride Shamima Begum in response to her plea to return home so she can care for her newly-born child, Jerah, after travelling to Syria to wed an ISIS fighter there. However, the Bangladeshi authorities assert she is not a citizen of their nation and the 19-year-old from east London says she has never been there.
