Brussels WARNED to give Britain a Brexit deal or suffer 'DEVASTATING' ...

Brexiteer Andrew Bridgen has issued a dire forecast for the European Union, warning its institutions could see their support wane at the upcoming European election if no Brexit deal is struck with Britain. Mr Briged suggested member states would not take well to Brussels' demands for increased budget contribution should the UK quit the bloc without paying a £39 billion divorce bill, which he claims the UK would not have to pay if no agreement is reached by March 29. Asked whether the EU will agree to renegotiate the deal, he told Sky News: "Oh, yes. The European Union - Germany has zero percent growth, Italy is in recession, France has got civil unrest, you’ve got European elections coming up.

"They can borrow money to bail out Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Irish Republic, because of the Eurozone crisis but they can’t borrow money for they in-year budget.

"On the eve of European elections, if they don’t secure that £39 billion of the so-called divorce bill – which if we leave without a deal we wouldn’t have to pay – they will have to announce they are increasing contributions from other countries and cutting back on their projects.

"That would have a devastating effect on the popularity of the European Union at the European elections coming up."

The forecast from Mr Bridgen came as Angela Merkel was warned Germany is on track to be the worst hit economically if the UK quits the EU without an agreement on the future relationship with the bloc.
