Harry Redknapp, 71, entered I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle naively, having not seen a single episode of the challenge show, and ended up winning the ITV series in December. Now, the football manager has revealed his decision to go on the show was down to his grandchildren. He told The Mirror: “I’d never seen even one second of the programme. “I had no intention of doing it, but my grandkids were like, ‘Oh go on Pop, please. Don’t be scared of Kiosk Kev, he won’t hurt you.’ I’m like, ‘Who is Kiosk Kev?’

"Sandra said, ‘They’re going to be so disappointed that you’re not going to do it.’”

Harry was a favourite to win the ITV show from the beginning after entertaining the public with his stories about football and his wife.

But despite getting on with his camp mates and enjoying the experience, he admitted he did think about quitting.

He added: “Even the week of the show I was still half-and-half, I could easily have not done it, but I thought, ‘I’m here now, I’ve got to.’”

Harry also admitted it was difficult to be away from his spouse of 51 years.
