Mr Watson demanded the Labour leader reshuffle his Shadow Cabinet to promote moderates. If this doesn’t happen a new moderate party grouping could be created to discuss policy. Mr Watson also called for a “personal intervention” from Mr Corbyn over anti-Semitism within Labour and submitted a dossier of 50 complaints.

Speaking on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show he commented: "I would prefer a reshuffle but if there isn't one we need to give a platform to colleagues.

"I'm not raising a rebel flag, I'm standing up for pluralism within our ranks.

"The situation is perilous in our party, we need to act and we need to act quickly."

Mr Watson added the “central democratic voice has to be heard” within the Party.
