Many The Archers fans are distrustful of Russ (played by Andonis James Anthony), who has recently muscled his way in to Lily Pargetter (Katie Redford) and Elizabeth Pargetter’s (Alison Dowling) lives.
Living with and looking after Elizabeth, who has been suffering depression on the BBC radio soap, Russ was all smiles during tonight’s instalment as he tried to support the family.
He even promised a delicious lamb casserole for when the mother and daughter duo returned from a difficult visit to see Freddie in prison.
But when Lily chose to confide in the artist, fans were terrified about what could be coming next.
The storyline began with Elizabeth struggling to get the courage to go and visit her only son, but after forcing herself to accompany Lily, the mother-of-two was relieved to have seen her son happy and positive about his upcoming release.
Yet when all the happy news died down, Russ could tell something was up with Lily and pressed her to tell him what had happened.
It turned out Freddie’s offender manager warned the convict may not be allowed to go home with his family, because the location of their house in Lower Loxley is too near the scene of his crime.
Completely unaware of the truth, Elizabeth’s world is due to come crashing down.
