Game of Thrones favourite Emilia Clarke, 32, has played the Mother of Dragons in hit HBO fantasy drama since it first aired in 2011. Last year, she bid farewell to the character when they finished filming on the eighth and final season, which is set to air in April. At the weekend, the actress debuted a dramatic new look on the Oscars 2019 red carpet as she revealed her newly dyed hair. Having ditched her famous Daenerys platinum colour, she showcased a sumptuous chocolate ‘do which was styled into a sharp cropped bob.

Speaking to InStyle at the star-studded bash, Emilia revealed how she coped with the intense treatments of bleach it took to keep her look perfect for her part in Game of Thrones.

“I just dyed my hair brown,” she told the publication. “I struggled to keep my hair healthy and bright.

“After a number of years, dyeing your hair with essentially bleach… it’s incredibly strong to get that colour,” she admitted.

“It can’t live a lifetime like that. There are some fabulous shampoos and conditioners I use, but at the moment, hopefully being brown will give me my shine back, which I’m longing for because I’ve missed it so much!”

On the subject of putting Daenerys behind her, Emilia added: “And waving goodbye to Khaleesi seems like an appropriate time to wave goodbye to my blonde hair.”
