Mr Gardiner joked on BBC Question Time the contentious issue dogging Labour was about entertainment and not education. Meanwhile, other panellists on the flagship debate show sniped at him for alleged anti-Semitism in the Labour Party. Host, Fiona Bruce, turned Mr Gardiner to allow him to respond to Labour criticism.
He went on to laugh and said: “Thanks, keep the fire coming, yeah?
“Keep it coming, I can take it. My shoulders are broad.
“I know this is all just about entertainment, this is not meant to be about education.”
The audience then booed the MP as Ms Bruce said: “This is not just about entertainment.”
