The claim was made by Michael Taube, who worked as a speechwriter for Stephen Harper during his term as Prime Minister. Mr Trudeau is facing calls to resign following explosive allegations from his former Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould. She claims the Prime Minister was part of an “inappropriate” effort to avoid construction firm SNC-Lavalin facing a criminal trial.
Writing in The Daily Telegraph Mr Taube argued Mr Trudeau is “arguably one of the most unimpressive individuals to have ever become Prime Minister”.
He added: “Mr Trudeau is uniquely under qualified for this important role.
“Having trained as a drama teacher, he lacks a political or legal background.
“Were he not the son of late Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, his ascent would have been completely implausible.”
Ms Wilson-Raybould resigned as Justice Minister on February 12.
The ex-minister went on to allege she faced an “inappropriate effort”, including “veiled threats”, from Mr Trudeau and other senior government officials seeking to prevent stop a criminal trial into SNC-Lavalin.
