Hamza Bin Laden was designated a “global terrorist” by US authorities two years ago. His father founded the terrorist group al-Qaeda, which carried out the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington DC. In 2011 US special forces killed Osama Bin Laden during a raid in Pakistan.

The award was placed on the ‘Rewards for Justice’ website, run by the US State Department.

An accompanying caption said: “Hamza Bin Laden is the son of deceased former al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden and is emerging as a leader in the al-Qaeda franchise.

“He has released audio and video messages on the internet, calling on his followers to launch attacks against the United States and its Western allies.

“He has threatened attacks against the United States in revenge for the May 2011 killing of his father by U.S. military forces.”
