Sam Allardyce ripped into Theresa May’s handling of Brexit claiming the UK was being made to look “stupid” on the political level. The former England boss was also quick to praise Donald Trump, insisting the US President “has done more for America than we could ever imagine”. Speaking on talkSPORT, host Mike Graham said: “If you were dealing with Donald Trump and dealing with the European Union in the way he is dealing with North Korea, we would already have a deal by now, because he would have walked away a couple of times. You have to do that Sam, don’t you?”
The former football manager replied: “He has done more for America than we could ever imagine, in turning their economy around.
“Their economy is booming. And we are making a complete and utter mess, looking so stupid at the political level, it is embarrassing. It is embarrassing with what we are doing with Brexit.”
The radio host stepped in adding: “I was just over there and you get more people over here having a go at Trump than you do in America.
“Not one person mentioned Trump to me when I was there. They were all too busy making money, having a good time, and sitting in hot tubs enjoying themselves.
“It is ridiculous. And I think the fact he has walked away is a massive lesson to Theresa May.

“She should look at what he is doing, not give him a hard time for not doing the deal because he is saying ‘look we are going to continue talking, but sometimes you ahem to walk away’.”
Allardyce, 64, replied: “Well he is a businessman, isn’t he?
“He knows when the time is right to get the deal done or not and say, ‘right well, we are going to play a little bit of a game here, a little bit of toing and froing’. And he just stands up and walks off.”
