Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the military will release the captured pilot on Friday. This is to help cool down the crisis between the two countries. The pilot has been identified by Islamabad as Wing Commander Abhi Nandan and videos had surfaced of him being captured and later held in custody.
Mr Khan said to parliament in Islamabad today: “As a peace gesture, we will be releasing him tomorrow.”
The recent escalation of tensions between the neighbouring countries has prompted a response from their allies in world laders across the globe.
Russia is reportedly prepared to offer India and Pakistan a platform to talk, Russian news agencies cited Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying on Thursday.
Mr Lavrov was quoted as saying: "If they want this, then of course”.
