Sonya (played by Eve Morey) an her husband Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Maloney) have been trying to come to terms with the prospect the Neighbours icon may not live long enough to see the couple’s children grow up on the Channel 5 soap.
As part of her plans to ensure Toadie would be ok once she had passed away, Sonya paid a visit to troublemaker Andrea (Madeleine West) in the psychiatric unit in Tasmania, after Hugo’s mother tried to secure sole custody of her child, with whom she had with Toadie after tricking him into bed.
Knowing how much Hugo means to Toadie and seeing the burden the legal case was having on him, Sonya managed to convince Andrea Hugo should stay with Toadie after admitting she had stage four ovarian cancer.
However, after agreeing to the settlement, Andrea had a bombshell of her own to drop on Sonya and during recent scenes of the Australian soap, the concerned mother told her husband’s brother Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) the truth.
Not wanting to put Toadie under any more strain, Sonya revealed Andrea believed the real Dee Bliss, Toadie’s dead ex-wife who the troublemaker had tried to impersonate when she arrived on Ramsay Street, was actually alive.
Recounting an interaction she had with with a mystery man sometime before arriving in Erinsborogh, Andrea revealed the man had asked if she was a woman called Karen who he had met in Tasmania.
However, Andrea admitted she had never been to Tasmania prior to her arrival at the psychiatric unit, with the mysterious interaction with the man at Salamanca Markets the secret Alice Wells (Kerry Armstrong) had been alluding to when she paid a visit to her daughter before making a swift exit.
After meeting with the man, Andrea told Sonya she believed the real Dee could still be out there somewhere, now posing under the alias of Karen having possibly lost her memory after the tragic car crash on her wedding day to Toadie, which led to her disappearance.
