#TheOneShow host Alex Jones takes unexpected swipe at Ore Oduba - ‘Get it ...

Alex, 41, and Ore, 33, began The One Show this evening by paying tribute to Saint David’s Day, the celebration enjoyed by the people of Wales for the patron Saint of their country.

The pair were joined on the BBC magazine programme by All Together Now presenters Geri Halliwell, 46, and Rob Beckett, 33, who admitted they both had a connection to Wales.

As the show got underway, Alex decided to test Ore on the Welsh dialect before speaking with the guest by getting him to say a turn of phrase in her home dialect.

However, before the former Strictly Come Dancing champion had a chance to say the phrase, Alex issued him with a warning.

After speaking about what was coming up in the programme, Alex said: “We have to say, Happy Saint David’s Day to everybody in Wales and outside of Wales.”

Turning to Ore, the presenter said: “Now, remember what we went through downstairs. Are you ready?” as Alex’s co-host geared himself up to say the phrase.

As Ore went to say the comment, Alex told him: “Get it right now,” after which the presenter went on to say: “Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus,” which is the Welsh for Happy Saint David’s Day.

Believing he’d done the Welsh language justice, Alex said the phrase once again before telling Ore: “I mean nearly, good effort.”

Replying, Ore said: “It will do for Friday night,” before Alex teased: “Urgh yeah, it was alright,” before turning to Geri and Rob.

“By a strange of coincidence, both of our guests tonight have strong connections to Wales, well the Prince of Wales,” Alex said as she introduced the pair.
