Stuart (played by Ricky Champ) has been on the path to redemption in recent weeks on EastEnders after Walford stalwart Dot Cotton (June Brown) took him in and persuaded him to turn over a new leaf.
However, the villain looked set to bid farewell to the BBC soap this evening after Rainie (Tanya Franks) continued to taunt him about his dark past with drugs, having overheard his confession at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.
Knowing he had to be honest with Dot, Stuart revealed all about his past with the pensioner taking the news as best she could, having had her own dealings with drugs at the hands of her son Nick Cotton (John Altman) and told the menace as long as he wasn’t still using them, he could stay.
The one person Stuart wanted to continue to keep in the dark was his brother Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) and knew if he stayed in Walford, Rainie would eventually force Stuart's hand to confess his sins to Halfway.

However, everything changed when Dot was paid a visit by the late Dr Legg’s (Leonard Fenton) solicitor, who wanted to inform the stalwart of her friend's last will and testament, though Stuart managed to sneak a peak before the pair sat down.
It was later revealed to the pensioner she had inherited the entirety of Dr Legg’s estate, leaving her a millionaire, to which Stuart was overjoyed for the pensioner, but it wasn’t until later it emerged he may have other plans for the money to satisfy him.
As Stuart, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Rainie Branning took to the Queen Vic to celebrate the good news and raise a toast to Dr Legg, Rainie became more intrigued by Stuart’s sudden gleeful attitude.
When the two got a moment together at the bar, Rainie told Stuart about her suspicions of his intentions, warning him: “You might fool Dot, but not me. I’m on to you,” but he also had a few choice words for the car lot saleswoman.
Dragging her over to the other side of the bar, Stuart told Rainie: “You’re a feisty little minx aren’t you. Keep going, this is funny,” after Rainie commented he could have had a part to play in Dr Legg’s death.
