Today’s edition of The Chase saw presenter Bradley Walsh introduce his four contestants as 24-year-old Kyle, Lise, 33, Nicky, 50, and Maurice, 72.
The group initially suffered when call-centre team leader Kyle lost out to the quiz genius, but Maurice managed to take his £4,000 prize fund back to the team.
Nicky wowed the entire studio with her impressive efforts and then took a respectable £7,000 back to the table.
When it was French contestant Lise’s turn however, she struggled with some of the questions, and the chaser decided to cut her some slack.
Bradley read out a question about which “Captain” character had had an obituary in the Times, and Lise paused before giving the incorrect answer.
The presenter later revealed the correct response would have been Captain Birdseye, and Lise admitted she was unsure.
“It’s the frozen food man,” Bradley told her, as Lise simply shrugged her shoulders.
Clearly disappointed, she tried to explain: “I didn’t think it would be related.”
Stepping in to reassure the contestant, barrister Shaun insisted: “You don’t have to know that Lise.
“You can’t be criticised for that.”
