However, the Duchess of Sussex was embroiled in a family saga in the run up to her royal wedding, which saw her father stage paparazzi pictures before pulling out of walking his daughter down the aisle in front of the world. Channel 5 documentary ‘Meghan and the Markles: Family at War’, which aired on Friday, reveals that the royal family did not know about Thomas Markle’s decision not to come to his daughter’s wedding until the news broke on a celebrity website, 48 hours after the paparazzi photos came to light.

However, instead of telling his daughter himself, “the royals only found out when it appeared on the American celebrity website TMZ”.
