Holly Willoughby, 38, was joined by her Dancing On Ice co-host Phillip Schofield, 56, as the semi-final got under way this evening.

Tonight’s penultimate round sees the celebrities take on not one, but two routines to try and impress the judges and viewers at home to get through to next week’s final of the ITV dance show.

As well as performing twice, the contestants also had to take on a tricky challenge set by head judges Jayne Torvill, 61, and Christopher Dean, 60, which was to perform half of one of their routines solo.

Taking to the ice first was X Factor star Saara, 30, who has continued to excel this series alongside her professional partner Hamish Gaman, 35.

However, Saara and Hamish managed to pull off the move with no problems and after getting their best score from the judges this series, the couple spoke with Holly and Phillip.

Speaking about the challenges faced by doing the headbanger, Hamish made a remark about swinging his partner so close to the ice after being asked ih was nervous to take on the challenge.

Uneasy by Hamish seemingly avoiding the comment about nerves, Holly commented: “I don’t know if I want to know the answer to that,” with the host’s then turning to the judges for the critiques.

Impressed by Saara’s routine, the ice panel commended her and Hamish for their performance as well as their ability to trust one another in taking on the dangerous move.

The couple were then followed by Love Island star Wes Nelson, 20, and his partner
