Julien (played by Tcheky Karyo) spent a large portion of his day with Martha’s (Barbara Sarafian)’s son Niels (Boris Van Severen) investigating the Romanian gang trafficking young girls in Amsterdam.
However as they spent more time together, Julien became suspicious about his relationship with Niels and took two coffee cups to test.
In the final moments of the episode, the beloved French detective learned he was in fact Niels father, which took him by surprise.
He headed straight to Martha’s house to find out why she had kept his son a secret and lied to him about their connection.
Fans will have to wait until the next episode to find out more about Julien and Martha’s relationship.
However, now the truth about Niels has been revealed, it could hint at a tragic fate for the young man.
The Romanian gang know Julien is trying to put them behind bars and have already targeted his wife Celie (Anastasia Hille).
If they were to find out Julien has a son residing in Amsterdam and working for the police, could they also target him?
It’s not unlikely and it would certainly be heartbreaking considering Julien has only just learned he has a second child.
