When Maya (played by Louisa Clein) was first introduced to Emmerdale viewers had no idea the pain and misery she would eventually end up causing.
Initially introduced as David Metcalfe’s (Matthew Wolfenden) girlfriend on the ITV soap, the curly-haired teacher came across as a warm and stable influence in Jacob’s (Joe Warren-Plant) life.
But things rapidly changed when the teenager developed a crush on his dad’s partner, unaware of how Maya was gradually grooming him with her charismatic and manipulative manner.
And as the relationship between the pair deepened, viewers quickly became sickened by the scenes unfolding on the soap.
In a recent interview with the Metro, producer Kate Brooks revealed there could even be the arrival of Maya’s mother in the village.
Fans might finally get the chance to learn the history behind the teacher’s ways and why she started abusing children.
“Going forward there will be a delve into Maya’s background to give some insight into how she became a child groomer,” Kate shared.
“And will see how Jacob will cope with what’s happened.”
