Riverdale fans have been shaken today (Monday, March 4) by the news Fred Andrews actor Luke Perry has died at the age of 52. Luke Perry, who also starred in the iconic 90s show 90210, has had tributes paid to him from a number of his Riverdale co-stars including his on-screen wife Molly Ringwald. The CW and Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa has since released a statement, saying Riverdale lost a "father figure" with Perry's death.
Aguirre-Sacasa and fellow executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater, together with Warner Bros Television and The CW network released a joint statement.
The statement reads: “We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry.
"A beloved member of the ‘Riverdale,’ Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all.
“A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness.
