Good Morning Britain viewers saw Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid discussing the ongoing knife crime “crisis” that is currently rocking the UK.
While Piers and Susanna were discussing the recent crimes with a panel of guests, weather reporter Alex Beresford couldn’t help but jump in.
Piers raged: “They’re carrying knives! They’re carrying knives!”
But his guest hit back: “We have a justice secretary who says the prisons are full and we need to build more prisons…”
But Alex jumped in, shouting over the set to interject: “Prison doesn’t work though! I’m sorry, prison doesn’t work.
“I have grown up in some of these communities that you guys are talking about, and prison always… it is not a deterrent.
“These boys don’t fear prison. If you don’t change the environment you won’t change anything - and that’s the key thing.
“This has been happening for years, and it’s not always in the media, but it won’t change. It’s going to take several things to come together.”
The panel then attempted to interrupt Alex, with one of them jumping in to say: “There is a massive place for rehabilitation but there has got to be a place for prison.
