BBC Breakfast viewers missed one of its regular hosts for some time as Dan Walker attempted to battle the elements. Dan took on the Comic Relief challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - alongside a number of other celebrities. The brutal challenge was sure to bring each personality to their knees as the celebrities were pushed to their limits. Dan expressed excitement for the challenge beforehand, but he no-doubt needed some home comforts for the journey. He admitted: “You name a biscuit – I’ve got it!” But he also brought some extra goodies for the journey, he went on, as given to him by his colleagues. In fact, fan-favourite weather reporter Carol Kirkwood sent Dan off with a care package, along with her colleagues. He continued: “BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin, Sally Nugent and Carol Kirkwood gave me an intriguing sealed package to open in case of emergency.” Although he didn’t divulge what was in it, it no doubt included a number of his favourite treats. Speaking to the camera he announced: “Hello everybody! “Day four in the climb to Kilimanjaro - and I got given this when I left BBC Breakfast and it says, ‘open in case of emergency.’” Dan held the package up to the camera and added: “We are are an hour-and-a-half away from lunch, we’ve run out of snacks.” He went on: “This is the moment, okay? Dan’s interview continued with him adding: “I’ve also packed wet wipes. With no running water, the wet wipe will be a very special friend!” Dan has now returned to the BBC Breakfast sofa where he has resumed his position on morning TV.
