Princess Diana gave a bombshell interview in 1995 which saw the Princess of Wales share her anguish over her marriage to Prince Charles and speak candidly about his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. A 13-year-old schoolboy at the time, Diana’s eldest son Prince William watched the programme in the study of Andrew Gailey, his house master at Eton, a book by royal biographer Penny Junor reveals. The 2012 biography “Prince William: Born To Be King: An Intimate Portrait” explains that Kate Middleton's husband was said to have been left in disbelief by the succession of startling claims made by Diana, including the revelation that: “There were three of us in this marriage.”
Ms Junor wrote: “Not unnaturally, he was deeply upset."
Simone Simmons, a close friend of the late Princess, wrote in "Diana: The Last Word" that "there were times when Prince William found [Diana's comments] difficult to accept".
The 2005 biography revealed that Prince William’s reaction left Diana “devastated”.
According to Ms Simmons “he wouldn’t speak to her afterwards and when he came home all hell broke loose”.
