Mumsnet is the place many mums, dads, and guardians choose to go in order to seek advice from other parents. The website can also serve as a platform for debate, which seems to be the case recently. On Saturday, a user known only as “Pumpkinsoup22” took to the site and complained of their shock when they found out their two-year-old son had been given a cup of tea. Unsurprisingly, the hot drink is well-known for being consumed at relatively high temperature - something which could be a potential hazard for a young child.

Am I being unreasonable to think this isn't really appropriate for 2 year olds?

What the member of staff had meant by a cup of tea is not known.

The temperature of the drink is also unclear.

As well as the possibility of the drink being hot, some Mumsnet parents have said they would be concerned about giving a young child the drink, due to it containing caffeine.

The NHS website says tea and coffee aren’t suitable for babies or young children.

The issue has certainly sparked a debate online as to whether youngsters should be given the hot drink.
